TDA Laboratory was created in November of 2003 by Dr. Goodell. It began as a milk laboratory lab however within a years time evolved into a lab that specialized in veterinarian bacteriology culturing everything from milk and water to tissue and fecal samples.
Today TDA Labs offers a full line of bacterological assays. Since 2004 the lab has grown to suit the needs of veterinarians, livestock producers and small animal clients alike offering diagnostics for several small and large animal diseases. TDA Labs runs most types of diagnostics including PCR and ELISA tests.
Dr. Goodell completed his undergraduate work at the University of Northern Colorado from 1987 to 1990 pursuing a biochemistry major with a minor in microbiology. He graduated from Colorado State University with his DVM in 1994. After graduation he specialized in mastitis and mastitis research placing emphasis on epidemiology and microbiology of mastitis pathogens.
Tessa has a B.S. in Animal Science from Colorado State University and has been with TDA Labs since its inception in 2003. She is also trained as a veterinary technician. Her background in Animal Science allows her to utilize those skills assisting in research projects and veterinary services and her duties in the microbiology lab. Tessa is also certified in ELISA and PCR assays.
Christine has a B.A. in Economics and Finance from the University of Northern Colorado. She began her career working with Banner Health in Greeley. Christine changed her career in 2006. She has also completed her training in microbiology.
Candice joined the TDA Labs team in January of 2008. Candice holds a B.S. in Animal Science from Colorado State University and is also a veterinary technician. She splits time between the lab and field work on research projects.
Julia graduated with a B.S. in Microbiology from Colorado State University and has worked in a couple of other labs before coming to TDA in August 2016. Her main duties are milk bacteriology, CHARM testing and back up for ELISA testing, assisting with Health Certificates, and updating vaccination records.
Veronica obtained a BS in Molecular Cell Biology at the University of California, Merced in 2020. From there, Veronica’s work consisted of carrying out forest ecology research in various regions of California and later heading an analytical lab. Upon joining the TDA laboratory team in February 2022, her primary focus has become the PCR lab where she tests for various pathogens and helps to optimize PCR specific protocols.
Karen’s family moved to Colorado in 2007 from California. She graduated with a B.S. in Biology Pre-health from the University of Northern Colorado in spring of 2020 and is a Certified Pharmacy Technician. She started working at TDA in 2022, where she primarily works in the Elisa lab.
My name is Mariafelix Puente. I served as CRPS within theNavy for 4 years. I then went to attend Colorado State University in 2018 whereI obtained a BS in Zoology. Soon After I began working as a Lab Technician at a microbiology lab. I am a microbiologist at TDA, and I enjoy spending time with my family.
Kape was born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico. After graduating high school, Kape pursued a degree at New Mexico Highlands University. He graduated from NMHU in 2020 with a Bachelors of Science in Forestry, concentration in Forest Management. In the summer of 2023, Kape made the decision to move to Greeley, Colorado. Shortly after moving, Kape joined The Dairy Authority team. Kape works as a Media Technician, who also assists in the bacteriological laboratory. Kape spends his free time playing video games, being outdoors, playing guitar and spending time with his cat.
Ellie comes from over 15 years of Administrative and accounting background. She is also a nail tech and do that part time. Ellie has been married for 25 years, with 5 kids and 6 beautiful grandbabies. One of her favorite things to do is cook and spend time with family.
Dominic went to the University of Northern Colorado, where he received his degree in biology and a master’s degree in biomedical science. He worked in the laboratory field for over 10 years in microbiology. He plays an integral role across multiple teams at The Dairy Authority, contributing his expertise to the Feed Lab, SCC Lab, and Daytona Small Animal Lab. He currently lives in Greeley with his wonderful wife of 7 years and my 3-year-old daughter. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities that include fishing, hiking, and hunting.
Sara was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Colorado State University. She has four kids that keep her busy. Sara is a die-hard Avalanche fan and enjoys quilting when she has down time. She is working in the ELISA lab.
Ashlyn was raised in Mead, Colorado and just recently obtained her associates degree from Aims Community College in Agribusiness. If she isn’t working, you could find her in the mountains hiking with her dogs or taking pictures for people with her photography business. She will be focusing in on the Small Animal Side of the lab.
